Samsung Galaxy Xcover
Samsung has recently discussed its first rugged phone from the Galaxy Series. Model S5690 which is better known as the Samsung Galaxy Xcover is built to take a beating as well as survive a spill. It has been IP67 certified which means it can be emerged under water for up to one minute. That does not seem like a whole lot of time but it means it could survive an accidental drop in the toilet or withstand a vicious rain shower. Those two facts alone make it a highly desirable mobile phone.
Aside from the Samsung Xcover’s rugged features, it is also jam packed with some pretty impressive software. It runs off of the famous Android 2.3 Gingerbread operating system and has 512 megabytes worth of internal memory. The Android 2.3 Gingerbread operating system is said to be one of the fastest to date so this mobile phone is capable of lightening fast speeds as well as the capacity to provide the customer with plenty of space to store music, videos, and other goodies. There is also an option to add an SD card of up to 32 additional gigabytes of space.
The 3.2 megapixel camera is good enough to provide high quality photos and has Geotagging, video, and an led flash for improved lighting. The display screen is 3.6 inches of gorilla glass and has a resolution of 128 x 160 pixels. The mobile phone will initially be available in the colors black or red with the possibility of more colors being available in the future.
As far as battery life, this smartphone has an excellent ability to hold its battery strength. With a talk time of up to 22 hours and a standby period of 160 hours, a charger will not be necessary for days. Other desirable features include MMS, touch screen, multi-touch input method, image editor, social networking, digital compass, MP3 player, voice memo, accelerometer sensor for UI auto-rotate, proximity sensor, loudspeaker, WAV ringtones, Bluetooth, USB connectivity, games, GPS, Java, YouTube, and Google Maps.
This mobile phone combines the slick look of its predecessors and combines it with total durability and strength. It does not lack in features and can compete very well with mobile phones of its kind. The device is set to be released in October of 2011. Initially it will be available in Germany with other areas of release being contingent on its initial success.
